Finally in Alaska!

Drove 246 miles from Whitehorse to Haines, AK.  Was a long day driving but it was beautiful and we stopped many times along the Haines Highway.  It is definitely a scenic route.

If you look very closely at the first picture you’ll see our friends in the little red Travato coming up the road.

Actually had a nice Thai dinner the first evening.  We spent all the next day exploring Haines – went to the Bald Eagle Center and then the Hammer Museum.  Most of you are thinking – a Hammer Museum??

It was actually a VERY interesting place.  Who knew there were so many different types of hammers?  No Carol did not have 1 too many when she took that 2nd  picture .

Took the overnight ferry to Sitka so we had a room – which happened to be over the engines and the car deck where a car alarm kept going off all night long….not  a good night.  Oh and loading the RV on the ferry was an adventure.  They shoe horned us in between a truck trailer and a wall.  We had about 8 inches to get out of our door with us and our overnight packs.

  1. Beautiful pictures Terry. Gives a sense of the vastness of Alaska. Did not see this area of Alaska. As impressive as the rest.
